First State Woodturners will have their annual Holiday Party on Saturday, December 6, Noon-4 PM, at Blue Ball Barn, just off Rt. 202, Wilmington. Members should check their email for an invitation. Please RSVP as soon as possible. As always, members are welcome to bring a guest.
Blue Ball Barn is an extraordinary two-story stone barn, built in 1914 by Alfred I. duPont. It has recently been renovated and converted into a state-of-the-art conference facility, including galleries that house a collection of Delaware Folk Art.

Turning Contest
One of our party activities will be a Turning Contest. Since this is our end-of-year celebration, the entries can be anything you’ve turned this year. Bring your best work from 2014!
Here are the details for the contest:
Four Categories:
- Bowls
- Plates & Platters
- Spindle Turnings (between centers)
- Miscellaneous (architectural turnings, furniture, treenware, ornaments, boxes, pens)
Entries:
- Enter in as many categories as you like
- Entries should be turned in the past year
Prizes:
- $25 Woodcraft Gift Certificate for each Category
Silent Auction
We will be having a Silent Auction again this year. Please consider bringing a contribution, such as:
- Bowl blanks
- Spindle blanks
- Pen blanks
- Tools/accessories you no longer need
- Books/DVDs on wood turning or woodworking
- Back issues of woodworking or turning magazines
Proceeds from the auction will go to the club treasury to help fund future activities.
