As part of our mission to provide educational opportunities and out-reach to the community and local schools, club members organized and conducted a week-long Woodturning Summer Camp last month at Wilmington Friends Middle-School. Focusing on spindle turning, the students learned the basics, along with essential safety practices. The kids were able to make something everyday that they could take home with them, including honey dippers, mallets, bottle stoppers, and three-legged stools.
Organizers and instructors included: Dave Beehler, Margaret DeMarco, Tom Sloan, Mike Adams, John Wilson, and Dennis Dow. A gallery of photos from the week can be found here. (All photos by Dave Beehler.)
