First State Woodturners is now offering mentoring for members.  Below is a list of our members who have graciously agreed to invite other members into their home workshops for mentoring sessions. In some cases, mentors can visit the member’s home to give instruction there instead.

If you’re an FSW member and would like to arrange a mentoring session, please use the contact form below.  Note the locations of our mentors and their areas of expertise when selecting your desired mentor from the dropdown box.  Your request will be sent directly to your desired mentor.  They will contact you to arrange a date and time.  (If you submit a request and haven’t heard back in a few days, let us know.)

If you’re an experienced FSW member and would like to add your name here as a mentor, please sign up here.  Our goal is to have a stable of FSW mentors available for other members throughout the tri-state region.  (Mentors are covered under our Chapter liability insurance for mentoring sessions.*)

If you sign up as a mentor, you set your own schedule, with as many – or as few – mentoring sessions as you can accommodate.  You can have mentees come to your home workshop, or you can arrange to visit them at their workshop. You tell us which topics you’re comfortable teaching, and we’ll list those here next to your name.  If you’ve never mentored before, one of us can review best practices and provide you with AAW teaching guides.

We hope this new program will bring members together to share our skills, spark fresh creativity and learning, and strengthen our sense of community.
