Description
This is the recording of our September 2025 meeting. We hosted renowned UK woodturner Philip Greenwood who demonstrated his techniques for turning a natural-edge bowl.
Philip Greenwood began woodturning in 1986 after a career in engineering, first selling his work at craft fairs before joining a craft workshop with his wife, Wendy, a glass artist. In 2006 he was accepted onto the Register and began running courses from his workshop, sharing his skills with new students. Working mainly with native timbers sourced from tree surgeons, he selects and prepares each piece to highlight its natural figuring. His work ranges from functional ware to artistic forms. Career highlights include creating trophies for the 2010 UCI World Mountain Bike event at Dalby Forest and demonstrating regularly at the Harrogate Woodworking Show since 2008.
Philip demonstrated remotely for us from his shop in North Yorkshire, UK.
